If kids could play slots, they would play the Toki Time Slot. Fortunately for us all, they can’t, which leaves us online slots fans to get in touch with our inner children. If you aren’t in the kind of mood to get in touch with your inner child, or you aren’t a fan of cutesie kodomo anime then you’re probably best off with another title. But you could always try it the once…
Fans of Japanese animations will instantly recognise the anime style of images. These cute creatures pop out of anemone-like shoots in the ground to spin as our five reels and as ever with Thunderkick studios slots titles the fine detail is outstanding: the anime creatures hold their breath before being pushed out of the fronds of the anemones at great speed, and the ever revolving background constantly moves from night to day and back again. The soundtrack also lends an extra playful tone that somehow doesn’t grate on you but still manages to keep you bobbing your head to it days later.
But with only 11 paylines across the five reels you feel as though your time playing this game is going to be limited – perhaps short bursts on your way to work or while waiting for your pop tarts to toast.
With a limited amount of paylines as there are in Toki Time you feel as though it needs a strong bonus game to keep your attention. Unfortunately, this slot doesn’t go that extra mile. Expanding wilds appear on reels 2 and 4 and, although great fun and quickly see your balance expand as quick as the sheep/ reindeer hybrid Toki, they don’t occur regularly enough to distract from the title not having a dedicated bonus game.
If you’re after a bit of fun then Toki Time can certainly deliver, but don’t hold your breath for any more than that. Don’t completely discount it – if you’re having a bad day I defy anyone not to be cheered up by these cutesie creatures. It would be an interesting scientific study to see what happens to a person if he plays this slot day-in, day-out. My instinct tells me it won’t be pretty.
