Instant Gratification On The High Seas

I might not be talking about what you think I am, but then again the story is in the ear of the beholder.

I came across [sic] this Casino Kings instant game last week and thought it so jolly Roger that it is now headline news.

Crown & Anchor is one of those games that sits unhappily in the bracket of scratch cards. It is not a scratch card, it is an instant. But importantly you will find it on the Scratch Cards tab on the Casino Kings site.

Anyway, semantics. Crown & Anchor Slot from Microgaming is a game of such simplicity that it is easy to see why it is lumped into the scratch card bracket. But, as usual with a Microgaming title, while the premise of the game is simple the attention to detail in the game play is superb.

We are on a seafaring voyage, destination: adventure. Our game board is a barrel and no doubt we have emptied it with the help of the other seafaring folk on this vessel.

We roll three dice, on each of which is a suite – Hearts, Diamonds, Spades and Clubs – and the notorious Crown and Anchor Slot symbols of the game’s title. We place a chip on any corresponding symbol on the Bet Board and literally roll the dice.

Waves lap, bells toll and gulls squawk as we play, and an unseen accordionist treats us to a ditty when we win. The payouts vary from 1:1 to 3:1 depending on how many symbols we land on each dice, and how brave we are determines our booty.
