Bloopers Slot
Last Updated
Hollywood is as famous for being a farcical craze as it is for making movies. The Bloopers Slot game celebrates the madcap side of Tinseltown with a glimpse behind the scenes and the comedy magic that ensues. The action here is taken care of on the five reels by idiosyncratic developer ELK Studios, while the 243 Ways To Win structure is released through NYX Gaming Group. All with humorous and hugely enjoyable effect.
Gameplay
As is the wont of video slots these days – and doubly fitting given the object of this slot’s fun-poking – we are treated to a lengthy intro with high production values when the game first loads. This is the First Act – the introduction of the main characters and the setting of the scene. The intro finishes with the opening gambit, “It’s all about the stars…or is it?”
In fact, they aren’t. Our “heroes” are those behind the scenes in Hollywood – the Sound Tech, Make-Up Artist, Cutter, Stunt Man and Fix It Guy that are as integral to the movies as the glamorous stars themselves, though we will only see them in the Bonus Scatters and the Bonus Feature. During the base game it is the Stars – a Leading Man and Leading Lady, both with appropriately chiseled and augmented looks – who are the high-paying symbols, along with a Clapper Board and Film Reel. A searchlight-pooled Bloopers Wild substitutes for all symbols, while the Stars have a bigger role when the Bloopers Bonus Game comes out.
Bonuses
Like a leaked sex tape, things can get sticky for the Stars during the Free Spins Bonus Game. The Stars become Sticky Wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4, and the Bonus Game only ends when we have reached media saturation point, namely when the Stars cover all three centre reels. Up until that point we have our haphazard heroes running about the reels, each one causing mayhem and havoc to the detriment of the production but to our definite benefit. These Bloopers with benefits bring us Expanding Wilds (Stunt Man), Falling Symbols (Cutter), Extra Free Spins (Make-Up), Symbol Shuffles (Fix It) or Random Wilds (Sound Tech).
The cute twist in the tale comes as not all of the Bloopers are present during each bonus game. Each Blooper Bonus Scatter we trigger to launch the Bonus Game contains one of the Bloopers, so only those Bloopers featured appear and affect the game – and the production – during the Free Spins Round.
Summary
With the kind of finishing touches you would expect from an ELK development here in abundance, the base game has us gripped. The Hollywood Bloopers are as random as the name might suggest, and with these Bloopers running amok this is certainly one production that Hollywood might forget but will burn brightly as a fans’ favourite.
