How to Play
At first you might look at the screen and think “what sorcery is this?” especially with all the buttons, icons and menus. But it’s not that tricky to get used to. At the bottom you will find all the betting options you need, along with the Start button which gets the game rolling. There’s also a paytable button nearby which explains how to land those wins. Essentially you achieve those wins by matching the same coloured gems. So while it is similar in the fact that symbols drop from the top, a la Gonzo’s Quest, this game definitely has more of a mobile/arcade feel. The gems drop down, you make groups of five matching symbols, anywhere except diagonally and the gems blast away, giving you wins and leaving spaces for new ones to fall down. You’ll also see how much your gems are worth on the left of the screen while the right side shows your World Bonus, which is different depending on which world you’re in.
Symbols
Gemix isn’t a traditional slot so doesn’t boast the kind of symbols we’re used to, in terms of higher-payers (fancy pieces of art) and lower payers (more traditional 10s through Aces). Instead, it has different coloured gems which you need to match. Red, blue, purple, orange, a lighter blue – they’re all in different shapes to make things that bit easier. But aside from that, that’s all you get for the symbols.
